The Primary Care Paramedic
Program

Your seat in the front row of Healthcare starts here...

How You Will Learn

We believe in a blended approach that respects the complexity of paramedicine. Your training at AET includes:

  • Dynamic Classroom Theory: Engaging lectures and online study components.

  • High-Fidelity Simulations: Stress-testing your skills in controlled, realistic scenarios.

  • Skills Labs: Hands-on practice with the latest medical equipment.

  • Field & Clinical Experience: Real-world exposure in hospitals and ambulances.

Foundational Knowledge

To treat the body, you must understand it. We build a robust framework of knowledge including:

  • Anatomy & Physiology: A deep dive into the body’s systems—respiratory, cardiovascular, nervous, and endocrine—and how they function.

  • Pathophysiology: Understanding how diseases and injuries attack the body and how the body fights back.

  • Pharmacology: Mastering the principles of medication administration (dosages and effects) alongside fluid therapy and electrolyte balance.

Human-Centric Care

(Special Populations)

Every patient requires a unique approach. Our program covers specialized care for:

  • Pediatric and Geriatric patients.

  • Obstetric emergencies (childbirth).

  • Mental health crises and bariatric patient management.

Clinical Excellence

This is the core of your toolkit. You will learn to perform advanced interventions with precision:

  • Assessment Mastery: From rapid scene scans to detailed physical exams and vital sign acquisition.

  • Life Support: Expert proficiency in CPR (BLS), advanced airway management, and ventilation.

  • Cardiac & Respiratory Care: You will learn to interpret 3- and 12-lead ECGs, utilize manual defibrillation, and administer therapies like CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure).

  • Advanced Access: Gaining intravenous (IV) access and managing fluid therapy.

The Professional Standard (Operations & Safety)

Being a paramedic is about more than medicine; it’s about leadership and safety.

  • Ambulance Operations: Emergency driving, air-transport principles, and safe lifting techniques.

  • Professional Practice: Legal and ethical frameworks, electronic documentation, and scene leadership.

  • Health & Wellness: Strategies for personal mental health, infection control, and managing hazardous scenes.

Ready for Anything

(Trauma & Medical Emergencies)

Paramedics must be generalist experts. We prepare you for the full spectrum of 911 calls:

  • Trauma Management: Specialized training for burns, fractures, and spinal injuries, including International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) certification.

  • Medical Crises: Managing diabetic emergencies, seizures, allergic reactions, and toxicological disorders.

  • Environmental Exposure: Treating patients suffering from extreme hypothermia or hyperthermia.

Real-World Experience: The Practicum

You can’t learn everything from a textbook. A significant portion of your time at AET Paramedic Academy is spent in the field under the mentorship of experienced preceptors.

  • Clinical Placements: rotate through hospital Emergency Departments to observe and participate in high-volume patient care.

  • Ambulance Placements: Step onto an active emergency ambulance. You will respond to real calls, applying your classroom knowledge to real people in their time of need.
